Do supplements work? The reality about boosting brain health.
If you open the medication cabinets of a handful of adults in the United States over age 50, you’ll doubtless discover a supplement for mind well being in at the least one among them. An AARP survey discovered that 1 in 5, or 21 percent, of adults ages 50 or older take a vitamin or dietary complement for brain health.
The problem? There isn’t sufficient evidence to prove they’re all that useful. Much of the problem stems from the FDA's lack of regulation of over-the-counter supplements. Which means a manufacturer can make a claim about the product’s advantages with out having to back it up.
Still, simply because there isn’t analysis that proves supplements are useful, it doesn’t mean they’re not. You just need to understand that these supplements are meant to be precisely that - an add-on to a wholesome way of life. What is brain well being?
Put merely, brain health refers to how properly your brain works.
